Supporters also defied club bosses and flew Palestinian flags in their second home group stage game.[/caption]

They’ve told the Scottish champions to stump up €23,500 in fines.

It all relates to this month’s defeat to Lazio at CelticPark– and the pre-match display.

A huge banner unfurled in the north curve section of Parkhead – home to the Green Brigade – read ‘AntiFascist GlasgowCeltic‘.

Within the design Olivier Ntcham‘s head-over-heels celebration from the last encounter between the sides was joined by an insult – translated into Italian – and a reprint of the infamous ‘Follow Your Leader’ banner.

Hoops fans have previous with the Rome side and drew the ire from the family of Italian dictator Mussolini following their previous matches.

And Uefa have now deemed the display ‘provocative message of an offensive nature‘ and hit the Hoops for €20k.

That’s on top of a smaller fine for yet more firework use amongst the crowd.

They say the fans breached Article 16(2) c and e.

It is far from the first incident where Uefa have clamped down on Hoops fans.

Last month fireworks in Rotterdam cost the club around £20,250 (€23,400) as Uefa do not condone the use of pyro in any stadium.

They were also fined £3,731 from last year’s opener against Real Madrid.

And just this week they defied the club’s appeals and flew Palestinian flags all around the ground ahead of kick-off against Atletico Madrid.

The club had pleaded with supporters not to bring any displays or flags relating to the current fighting in the Middle East.

They had previously condemned a display of “political messages and banners” against Kilmarnock, insisting they were not welcome at Celtic Park.

The Green Brigade were also slammed as ‘brainwashed’ by former player Nir Bitton by displaying pro-Palestinian messages ahead of the SPFL match.

Their message: “Victory to the resistance!! Free Palestine” was displayed just hours after a surprise attack on israel by Hamas which escalated tensions in the area and led to thousands of deaths.

It came on the 50th anniversary of the start of the Yom Kippur war in the region.
