FRANKFURT fans will be BANNED from Pittodrie when their team travels to play Aberdeen next month.
The Bundesliga side have been handed a hefty punishment from Uefa and will now have no away support against the Dons on December 14 in the final match of Europa Conference League Group G.
HJK Helsinki vs Eintracht Frankfurt on November 9 was engulfed in smoke and flares[/caption]It comes following trouble in the stands during their clash against fellow Group G rivals HJK Helsinki on November 9.
Both sets of fans set off pyro, while missiles were thrown from the away section.
HJK have also been hit with a heavy fine for blocking public passageways.
They will also be subject to a partial stadium closure, which will be in effect when they host Aberdeen next week in the Finnish capital.
But, the stadium closure is expected to impact home fans only.
A statement on the disciplinary matters section of the Uefa website read: “Decision: To fine Eintracht Frankfurt €30,000 and to ban Eintracht Frankfurt from selling tickets to its away supporters for its next (1) UEFA competition match, for lighting of fireworks and throwing of objects.”
Frankfurt beat Aberdeen in the reverse fixture earlier this year, winning 2-1 in Germany.
As for Helsinki, Uefa said: “Decision: To fine HJK Helsinki €30,000 and to order the partial closure of HJK Helsinki’s stadium (i.e. the home sector behind the goal, consisting of at least 2,000 seats) during the next UEFA competition match HJK Helsinki will play as host club, for lighting of fireworks. Said partial stadium closure is suspended during a probationary period of two (2) years, starting from the date of the present decision.
“To fine HJK Helsinki €12,000 for blocking of public passageways.”
Barry Robson’s side drew 1-1 with HJK last month at Pittodrie and will travel to Finland for the November 30 tie hoping to put some distance between themselves and the Finnish champions, who occupy bottom spot in the group.
Meanwhile, Rangers star Ross McCausland could miss the Light Blues’ clash against Aberdeen this weekend after it was revealed he picked up a knock while making his debut for Northern Ireland at the weekend.
The hot prospect won the man of the match award on his debut for the international side.
